If you're planning to travel in Southern Alberta in September, there is one unique tradition that you definitely won't want to miss.

The Love & Records Festival takes place every autumn in the heart of sunny downtown Lethbridge, Alberta. Typically occurring on the second or third Saturday of the month, this free, single-day outdoor event has established itself as one of the province's most distinctive parties.

Every year, over 12 hours of live music is performed live on stage, by an eclectic assortment of western Canadian musicians. Previous years have featured folk and country artists, indie rock and pop acts, electronic DJs, symphony string quartets, aboriginal drumming and more.  Past years have delighted attendees with performances by Fred Penner, Five Alarm Funk, Geoff Berner, Delhi To Dublin, Shout Out Out Out and Shred Kelly - just to name a few. These live performances can be a great way to discover emerging Canadian talent.

Plus, dozens of vendors from all over the country descend on the city, bringing with them a huge selection of vinyl records, CDs, 45s and tapes for avid music collectors to browse through.

Even if you're not a huge music fan - the Love And Records Festival is just pure fun for all ages. Sections of the picturesque Galt Garden park become home to stand-up comedy and spoken word poetry tents, an outdoor art gallery and even a disc golf course. The family fun zone features bouncy castles, a spray park, inflatable 'hamster' balls, and even a ferris wheel.  You can get your face painted while being entertained by acrobats and balloon artists, fire spinners and hula hoopers.

Plus, food truck vendors are on-site serving everything from pulled pork sandwiches to poutines, gyros to deep dish pizza.  A beer garden area is available for adults who want to watch the on-stage performances while enjoying craft beers from Lethbridge-based breweries. Other vendors set up their own tents offering everything from massages to yoga classes, skateboards to clothes and accessories. Cash raffles and 50/50 draws take place each year as well - so you might even make some money while you're having fun!

In addition to all of the events on site, the entire event is broadcast live throughout the day via campus/community radio station CKXU 88.3 FM, whose volunteers are also the primary organizers and supporters that make the magic happen.

Inclusive to all, it truly is the biggest festival in town, and the best part is - it's totally free to attend, so you can get great value for your money. There is no camping involved, and southern Alberta's seasonal weather is typically balmy and warm.

This unique event just gets keeps improving every year, with nearly 5,000 people in attendance last year. Complete with lots of positive vibrations in a safe and drug-free environment, you can summarize Love & Records with a single word - Refreshing

The 7th Annual Love & Records Festival is taking place September 16, 2017.  It truly is a special day, featuring a little something for everyone.
